Alberta's bright new star in the conservation firmament
Kennedy Halvorson, conservations specialist with Alberta Wilderness Association, eviscerates Grassy Mountain scheme by foreign coal speculator Northback
Two days of public hearings by the Alberta Energy Regulator are underway to consider a scheme by Australian speculator Northback to drill yet more exploratory holes at its clapped-out Grassy Mountain coal mine already rejected once by the regulator.
Approval would mean environmental disaster, Kennedy Halvorson of the Alberta Wilderness Association made sparklingly clear Tuesday at the Pincher Creek hearing.
One attendee, previously neutral on the issue, emerged convinced the Northback scheme is a total loser for Alberta. “This will be a test of the integrity of the Alberta Energy Regulator.”
