He really is quite the sycophant. Has he finally stopped looking for his integrity? He gave it up long ago. Everyone in the Alberta Government needs to be kicked to the curb.
This is what Brian Jean said during a fundraiser for MLA Glenn van Dijken. Does this mean he's backing down on Grassy Mountain? Or just confusing the issue again? :
"Jean noted that the province would prohibit coal mining when the deposits are above creek or river systems and ensure companies improve their air and water monitoring systems.
He added that he also expects the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) to come up with a list of what will and won’t be allowed for coal extraction.
“We are not going to allow pit mines in certain areas, especially in southern Alberta, in particular, because they are unsafe in some cases and don’t bring the value to Alberta that they cost, and we’ve heard that lid and clear."
Thanks and because I am up north there I want to know what he has done for the mess that we are in and how we need full reinstatement of the 1976 Coal Policy to permanently protect our Eastern Slopes from coal mining.
- legally binding water protections to prevent contamination from industrial projects (recently they cancelled the Water Conservation Objective Licence and wiithheld the 10% of water which is now available to licencees in all river basins)
- public transparency and consultation before making decisions that impact Alberta's future and therefore the future of my children and all children in this province (The coal is Albertans the water is Albertans and not the UCPs).
Check that not all River basins but specifically where transfer licences are available that was the only way they could take the Water Conservation Objectives and how they would take the guidelines from the South Saskatchewan, Battle River and Milk River basins.

including Keepers of the Water calling on all federal political parties and candidates to protect and defend the integrity of watersheds in Canada. Specifically by committing to uphold and strengthen existing binational agreements and Canadian legislation that protects and restores freshwater. This includes respecting Indigenous sovereignty and water rights, as well as preventing water privatization and bulk export.
Invite anyone to try to get the information from the 1976 Coal Policy it has some concerns as it disappeared from the GOA website anyone requesting to get it back in because that is lacking information for what we currently have in place for consultation and conservation. https://www.alberta.ca/coal-acts-and-regulations
Brian Jean is as bad as Danielle, two peas in a pod. Just as deceitful as her as well. Garbage conservatives, money money money money, no matter what’s at stake. Trumpy behaviors every freaking day.

Well the AER is in bed with the UCP and useless at their jobs.

A group of ENGOs have worked to craft a sign-on letter https://environmentaldefence.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Open_letter_freshwater_in_Canada.pdf
including Keepers of the Water calling on all federal political parties and candidates to protect and defend the integrity of watersheds in Canada. Specifically by committing to uphold and strengthen existing binational agreements and Canadian legislation that protects and restores freshwater. The result was 85 groups signed on and the following press release issued by Environmental Defense https://environmentaldefence.ca/2025/04/22/protect-canadian-freshwater-security-from-trump/
The French version in the press release issued by Eau Secours here. https://eausecours.org/la-protection-de-leau-douce-au-canada-est-non-negociable/
Organizations have shared the letter via socials. Here are 2 examples on Facebook: Keepers of the Water - Environmental Defense
