Corb Lund petition is LIVE
A message from Corb:
Hey Alberta,
I’m happy to tell everyone that our coal petition to prohibit mining in the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies has been officially approved. As of (approx) Feb 11th, our petition process will be initiated, Elections Alberta will start mailing out canvasser badges and we can start collecting signatures in person.
Here’s what you can do right now to help us get underway:
1. CANVASS
We need LOTS of canvassers. If you want to help us collect signatures, please fill out the Elections Alberta application form as soon as you can.
Even if you signed up on our site before, now that our petition has been approved you MUST go back using the link above to complete the official Elections Alberta form and take our quick training.
2. DONATE
This campaign will incur some real costs, and we’re up against some very deep pockets on the pro-coal side. I’ve already donated the maximum allowed because I believe in this cause.
If you’re able, please chip in whatever you can. Every dollar helps us protect the water we drink and the mountains that we care about.
3. SIGN
Elections Alberta requires physical, in-person signatures. There isn’t an online option.
Once the collection period starts (approx Feb 11th), our website will have a list of locations where you can go in person to sign. We’ll make it easy for you to find somewhere close to you. We’ll tell you what ID you need to bring. If mobility is an issue, we’ll make sure someone comes to you.
We’re planning official Launch events Feb 20th, 21st and 22nd in Lethbridge, Calgary and Edmonton, respectively, where you can come and sign the petition and become more informed about this issue - more details to follow. I will be speaking along with some of my petition colleagues and we hope to see you there.
Over the next four months we’ll be hosting many live signing events and I’ll be speaking at a bunch of them. Bring your friends, your neighbours, your hockey team, your book club — anyone who cares about our clean water and our Rocky Mountains.
We’ll keep our website updated with the latest information:

This is the moment we’ve been working toward, and I want to thank everyone who’s stood with us so far to responsibly defend our water and our mountains. The support has been really gratifying, and we’re only just getting started on this thing.
Many, many Albertans agree on something simple and important:
We need to defend our water and our mountains.
It’s time we protected them with strong, permanent legislation that keeps coal mining off the Eastern Slopes for good.
The more signatures we gather, the harder it will be for this or any future government to ignore the will of the people. After years of watching foreign coal companies and elected officials disregard the majority of Albertans, this petition will give us something solid and undeniable: our voices, on paper, together.
I’m not being paid for any of this. I’m doing it because I grew up in the foothills, and like a lot of you, those places are very dear to me and I don’t want them destroyed by foreign coal companies. I know what’s at stake. I’ve dug into the details very deeply and understand the issue intimately. I can tell you without hesitation: coal mines will do real, lasting damage to the Eastern Slopes and to our water, no matter what the coal industry’s ads or lobbyists say.
This is our home, this is our water and it’s time to protect it. Thanks again for everyone’s overwhelming support. See you out there and let’s get this done.
Sincerely,
Corb Lund
Alberta, Canada

We don't need to mine in the Rockies. There are plenty of other places.
