Corb Lund's "Water Not Coal" Petition Blasts Pass Threshold with More than 200,000 Signatures
"Under the province’s Citizen Initiative Act, Lund needed to collect 177,732 signatures, or 10 per cent of the votes cast in the last provincial election." (CBC)
CBC: “Musician and rancher Corb Lund says more than 200,000 Albertans signed his petition demanding the province prohibit all coal mining and exploration in the Eastern Slopes of the Rocky Mountains, including the Grassy Mountain and Blackstone projects.
“Lund arrived at Elections Alberta’s head office in Edmonton Wednesday afternoon in a pickup truck pulling a trailer with black plastic bins with blue lids full of signed petitions.”

Interesting that CBC stated the wrong % required, it was only 5%. The same as the separatist petition. Forever Canadian required 10%. The Recalls required ~40%.
Thank you to Mr.Lumf and the volunteers.for their successful efforts ! This was such an important petition for the environment and the safety of Alberta's water that the UPC ignored over coal mining. Well done ‼️🇨🇦
