Global News studio offered for public debate
Another gauntlet thrown down at the feet of the Alberta Government
Corb Lund, Katie Morrison, and Bill Trafford Challenge Premier and Ministers to Debate Controversial Coal Policies
The challenge has been offered by our trio of spokespeople and now Global News Calgary has offered their studio to provide a 30 minute window for the debate.
Corb Lund needs no introduction and has been steadfast in his conviction that developing the Eastern Slopes, especially for something as crazy as coal mining, is completely out of the ballpark of reasonable thinking. He has had no reservations about speaking out loudly on this issue after spending a great deal of time and energy doing his homework with credible science and scientists at the base of it.
Katie Morrison, long time Executive Director of Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society (CPAWS) Southern Alberta Chapter, is no stranger to this issue and has been working tirelessly to prevent one of the biggest mistakes that this government may make, that of compromising the integrity of the Eastern Slopes, its fish, wildlife, and OUR water, for the cash grab on substandard coal.
Bill Trafford, President of the Livingstone Landowners Group, has been in the trenches on this file for years and was a member of the Coal Policy Committee which was established on March 29, 2021 by then Minister of Energy, Sonja Savage. His experience on this issue is knowledgeable and extensive given the intensive investigation done by the committee.
The following video produced by Global News Calgary sets the debate challenge to the Alberta Government and can be viewed here.
