DFO is systemically misinterpreting the provisions of the Species At Risk Act to authorize West Fraser and others to destroy the critical habitats of endangered fish, including Bull Trout, Westslope Cutthroat Trout and Athabasca Rainbow Trout, throughout the Eastern Slopes and across Canada. The same thing Lorne describes is also happening in the upper Highwood River and Loomis Creek watersheds. Defenders of the Eastern Slopes and Timberwolf Wilderness Society have launched a judicial review of the DFO authorization for West Fraser to log 2,500 acres in the upper Highwood River and Loomis Creek watersheds and are raising money to cover legal costs. But we need your help! Go to https://gofund.me/ddc4b323a to help us protect Bull Trout critical habitat and to force DFO to obey the law!

Over a couple of decades now, Lorne has been writing these superlative articles on the East Slopes waters that are home to our “provincial fish” the bull trout.

The educational potential of these articles is immense, and yet few folks pick up on the needed actions to pressure Gov. agencies to heed the protections given to these watersheds in the name of freshwater habitat protections.

Phones calls, letters and e-letters to MLA’s, MP’s, appropriate Ministers of governance, at both Prov. and Fed. level’s must become a part of this next generation actions for nature.

No action, no protections and habitat diminishes even more.

Where are the Fish and Game organizations on these problems on which Lorne has informed!

The for taking a new generation into conservation and environmental action has come. The paid lobbyists of the corporations are pushing the profit making corporate agendas as they grind through our diminishing natural systems with impunity.

My generation - old farts now-slowed this assault on nature, got some protective laws passed, got some areas protected as Parks, wild lands, ecological reserves and wilderness areas.

Now the fine tuned fights for habitat, for the species that find homes there MUST be picked up by the 30 to 50 year olds

- whoever - of this next generation to ensure viability of our natural systems for our Grandchildren and their children OR all we’ll have left of nature are past STORIES !

PICK UP THE TORCH, carry it forward for NATURE!
