News Release: Albertans left in the dark on coal company settlements
The public should be demanding transparency.
In a collaborative effort with several other groups, Kennedy Halvorson, Conservation Specialist for the Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA), has been working tirelessly in putting together this news release which has gone out to media as well as the Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Shadow Ministers for the Minerals and Energy, Environment and Protected Areas, and Forestry and Parks departments.
Given the silenced approach by the Alberta Government in suddenly making settlements with coal companies, we are only left to wonder what the terms of these agreements are, both financial as well as the resulting status of the leases involved.
