This documentary by Spoke Media exposes the hostile behaviour of Evolve Power, Australian owner of the Tent Mountain coal mine which continues to this day to pour wastewater highly contaminated with selenium into the Crowsnest River system.
Piikani environmental steward Trevor Bastien is mounting legal action to force Evolve Power and the Government of Alberta to respect First Nations’ constitutional right to ancestral food sources, in this case the trout of Crowsnest Lake.
This constitutional initiative in the federal court system is the surest way to bypass the pro-coal, pro-Australia Government of Alberta and shut down open-pit mining in the Rockies.

Once worked with a fisheries biologist who mapped bioaccumulation patterns in freshwater systems, and the lag time between source contamination and detectable harm is scary long.
