Transalta responds fully to query about its ownership interests and environmental liabilities in Tent Mountain power proposal
Land ownership and environmental liability remains with Australian Evolve Power
In response to a query regarding TransAlta’s ownership and environmental liabilities with respect to the potential Tent Mountain pumped storage electrical generation project, the company responded fully and completely.
Thank you for reaching out to TransAlta with your inquiry.
In February 2025, TransAlta acquired Evolve Power’s remaining interest in the Tent Mountain Pumped Hydro Limited Partnership. This deal included project development rights but not the acquisition of the associated lands. As a result, TransAlta is not responsible for the coal reclamation responsibilities associated with the lands.
In this acquisition, TransAlta did retain the option to purchase the project lands. Should we move forward with the project, we are committed to meeting all applicable environmental regulations and permitting requirements, aligned with our commitments to sustainability.
At this time, no decision has been made regarding the future of the project.
Crownest Headwaters thanks TransAlta’s media relations team for it timely and informative response.
