Here's an interesting spin on Coal Mining: "doing God's will, God's way"
Hmmm. Seriously??? Whatever it takes I guess.

Meet David Hodgson. Australian businessman who intended to resurrect a derelict coal mine in Tasmania in order to fuel a hydrogen plant.
Tasmanian Greens leader Cassy O'Connor said she believed the project "would be a disaster for the climate because coal mines are huge methane emitters".
"It would damage our clean, green brand but it would also negatively affect our competitive advantage in having certified green hydrogen products in the future," she said.

Mr Hodgson, an ex-Rhodesian special forces soldier, said he had been open about ASIC's investigation into his companies since it began. He also said, 'They crucified Jesus, now us'.

Why are you only attacking coal mining. What about all mining on the eastern slopes?
It's the sedimentary rocks that host the coal that is the issue, they form the waste dumps, the coal is shipped away. There are open pit mines all over the eastern slopes not just coal. Canmore is a great example.
The open pit mine above Crowsnest Lake is another. And many small operations for sand and gravel. They generate pollution and disturb waterways as much as coal mines do.
Se is not the only product that is an issue in water. Nitrates and carbonates are toxic too.

And as this article deals with methane, cement is as dirty as steel making for emissions.
Ban cement.
